Premier des trois albums solo (pour le moment) d’Iommi, mais pas le premier à sortir, The 1996 DEP Sessions a une gestation particulière, un bootleg qui a contrarié sa sortie mais aussi il a été l’occasion d’une rencontre décisive pour la suite de la carrière d’Iommi et Black Sabbath !

Rien ne va plus chez Black Sabbath fin 1994 : « Cross Purposes » n’a pas marché, Bill Ward est revenu puis reparti, et Geezer Butler finit à son tour par claquer la porte. Tony Iommi, mis sous pression financière par le camp Osbourne, doit livrer un dernier album original pour se libérer de son contrat avec IRS Records. Une solution de la dernière chance est donc trouvée en rappelant Cozy Powell et Neil Murray, et en confiant contre toute attente la production à Ernie C (Body Count). Dernier album enregistré avec Tony Martin, « Forbidden » (1995) est cependant un disque malade, décrié depuis sa sortie pour de multiples raisons, dont notamment sa production ratée. Longtemps introuvable, cet album a finalement été remixé en 2024 et bénéficie aujourd’hui d’un regard plutôt bienveillant de la part de la critique. Alors « Forbidden », véritable ratage ? Plus mauvais album de Black Sabbath ? Disque à réhabiliter ? On fait le point sur tout ça en compagnie de Julien Deléglise (Best, Gonzai) et Julien Meurot (Hard Force) !

Ronnie James Dio et Vinny Appice partis, Black Sabbath doit re, re, re, re trouver un chanteur et un batteur. Par chance, Geezer Butler, lui, est resté. En pleine mode grunge et indus, les Brummies vont-ils réussir à sortir un album majeur ? Rien n’est moins sûr !

Après deux albums avec le même line up, Black Sabbath chamboule tout, se reforme avec Dio, puis Vinny Appice et publie Dehumanizer, véritable rebond à la vigueur musicale notable. Est-ce que ce (re, re, re) nouveau départ va durer dans le temps ? Ce serait mal connaître Black Sabbath !

Un peu de continuité chez Black Sabbath ! Ça change ! Les 4 (enfin 5) même musiciens sont reconduits pour un second album sans changement de line up. Est-ce que ce semblant de continuité suffit à faire un grand disque de Black Sabbath ? Rien n’est moins sûr…

Folle histoire de celle de Sabbath chez les Soviets ! En effet, du 19 novembre au 9 décembre 1989, Black Sabbath a donné une grosse série de concerts en URSS. Pourquoi sont ils sont allé là bas, pourquoi l’Union Soviétique s’est ouverte aux concerts de groupes occidentaux, pourquoi le groupe a t’il joué « Apache » ou « peut-on se nourrir quasi exclusivement de Caviar ? » voici quelques unes des questions – parmi de nombreuses autres – auxquelles cet épisode répond ! Sabbath a viré ses deux premiers chanteurs, obligé, à chaque fois, de se réinventer, de renaître. Pour son 11ème album ils se sont adjoints les services d’un vocaliste de marque en la personne d’Ian Gillan, ex Deep Purple et décidé à faire de Deep Sabbath, ou Black Purple, un groupe qui compte. Sauf que c’est sans compter sur la lose légendaire de Sabbath qui va, évidement, encore frapper.
En invité l’habitué Guillaume Fleury, déjà entendu plusieurs fois ici, qui vient nous raconter son affection pour Born Again.

Never Say Die, le 8ème album de Black Sabbath, est passé au crible par votre duo habituel, cette fois-ci accompagné de Julien Deleglise, journaliste et écrivain (Best, Gonzaï etc.).
A noter que quelques problèmes de connexion chez notre invité ont rendu le montage de cet épisode fastidieux. Si le son s’en sort pas mal il y a parfois des décalages entre ce dernier et l’image. Nous en sommes évidemment désolés.

L’énigme du plagiat de “What To Do” de Vanusa par Black Sabbath (Addenda Sabbath Bloody Sabbath)
Depuis qu’internet a révélé la troublante coïncidence entre le titre “What To Do” de Vanusa datant de septembre 1973 et la chanson “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” publiée le 1er décembre de la même année, le mystère persiste.
