En direct d&rsquo;une antre de Phoenix en Arizona, Altar of Earth nous ass\u00e8ne de grands coups de doom aux morceaux longue dur\u00e9e sur la caboche. Apparemment le r\u00e9sultat du travail de 2 hommes, ce groupe \u00e0 quatre paluches ma\u00eetrise les mid et down-tempos dans les eaux fourbes des basses fr\u00e9quences et autres registres down-tuned.<\/p>\n<p>La voix tritur\u00e9e et \u00e9raill\u00e9e fait in\u00e9vitablement penser aux r\u00e2les de Bongzilla. N\u00e9anmoins, quelques hurlements gutturaux dont l&rsquo;\u00e9cho nous parvient d&rsquo;outre-tombe offre une teinte vocale black m\u00e9tal \u00e0 l&rsquo;ensemble. La double p\u00e9dale vient d&rsquo;ailleurs ponctuer les coups de grosse caisse de temps \u00e0 autre. On aime ou on n&rsquo;aime pas. La musique d\u00e9livre une orientation principalement doom de bon aloi dans le registre de ces m\u00eames fumeurs de sticks \u00e0 la cha\u00eene mais en ayant totalement \u00e9pur\u00e9 les samples de bongs et les quelques vapeurs psych\u00e9d\u00e9liques.<\/p>\n<p>Si le son de la gratte bien charg\u00e9 en basses est convaincant pour une autoprod dans ce domaine, la prod et le mix de la batterie sont faiblards et le jeu manque d&rsquo;originalit\u00e9 et de frappe soutenue. Le duo grosse caisse\/caisse claire me laisse franchement perplexe. Mais bon, sonoriser les \u00e9l\u00e9ments d&rsquo;une batterie n&rsquo;est pas une mince affaire surtout avec les outils du bord.
