Le fait majeur de ce dimanche est pourtant plut\u00f4t d\u00e9primant, avec l&rsquo;annulation de The Obsessed quelques jours avant, un groupe qu&rsquo;on attendait de pied ferme&#8230; Heureusement la liste des groupes \u00e0 ne pas rater aujourd&rsquo;hui est longue comme le bras, et l&rsquo;ennui n&rsquo;est pas au programme&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #99ccff;\"><strong><em>*** Notre video-report : le jour 3 du Hellfest en quelques minutes avec entre autres des extraits live de tous les concerts ! ***<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uS4bbfcMkFw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>DDENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Les choses commencent t\u00f4t pour les m\u00e9lomanes puisque les parisiens de Ddent, quatuor post metal instrumental dont le nom est sur toutes les l\u00e8vres depuis quelques mois, investit la Valley \u00e0 10h30. Le public ne s\u2019y est pas tromp\u00e9 et montre son enthousiasme d\u00e8s les premi\u00e8res notes d\u2019\u00abArzel\u00bb. D\u2019abord visiblement tendus (c\u2019est une premi\u00e8re grosse sc\u00e8ne pour le groupe), les musiciens prennent vite confiance et en quatre titres (deux de <em>Toro<\/em> leur dernier album en date et deux du pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent) leur set prend des allures de majest\u00e9 et donne le la pour la derni\u00e8re journ\u00e9e. s&rsquo;est pas plus remplie alors que Gold investit la sc\u00e8ne. Plut\u00f4t circonspect par la version sur disque du groupe, votre serviteur est pour le moins intrigu\u00e9 de voir \u00e0 quoi ressemble le groupe en live. Musicalement, pas de surprise, Gold \u00e9volue dans un spectre m\u00ealant dark, goth, post rock gentillet, rappelle les vieilles sueurs new wave ou emo&#8230; On peut aimer le groupe, et sa qualit\u00e9 n&rsquo;est pas en cause, mais la question de sa place au Hellfest reste pos\u00e9e&#8230; Quoi qu&rsquo;il en soit, le peu d&rsquo;engouement d\u00e9montr\u00e9 par le maigre public pr\u00e9sent n\u2019entame pas l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie des musiciens (nombreux, eux, avec rien moins que trois guitaristes&#8230;) qui sont parfaitement \u00e0 l&rsquo;aise. Mais c&rsquo;est Milena Eva qui monopolise l&rsquo;attention, th\u00e9\u00e2tralisant son chant, jouant de ses tenues vestimentaires \u00e9labor\u00e9es (carton jaune stylistique, par ailleurs) &#8211; autre d\u00e9tail symptomatique d&rsquo;un certain d\u00e9calage&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/desert-rock.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_8722.jpg\"><img Hellfest, il y a quelques mois&#8230; Frisson vite disparu quand nous avons constat\u00e9 que ce n&rsquo;\u00e9tait pas la formation norv\u00e9gienne de vintage rock que nous aimions tant (et qui a perdu r\u00e9cemment son super vocaliste) mais un trio belge, qui finalement sur le papier s&rsquo;av\u00e8re loin d&rsquo;\u00eatre inint\u00e9ressant. Ce sentiment se confirme assez vite en r\u00e9alit\u00e9, devant la prestation live de cette formation fort atypique, que l&rsquo;on a \u00e9t\u00e9 voir dans cette contr\u00e9e recul\u00e9e et sauvage qu&rsquo;est la Warzone. On y retrouve un guitariste (mode concentr\u00e9, option taciturne), un bassiste (mode pois sauteur, option souriant), et une batteuse&#8230; chanteuse ! Post\u00e9e sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 droit de la sc\u00e8ne, contre le bord, Stefanie, la jeune marteleuse de futs, concentre in\u00e9vitablement l&rsquo;attention. Il faut dire que la demoiselle officie au micro avec puissance, efficacit\u00e9 et m\u00eame gr\u00e2ce parfois&#8230; tout en frappant comme une mule ! C\u00f4t\u00e9 ma\u00eetrise instrumentale, elle assure, et c\u00f4t\u00e9 souffle, on ne vous en parle m\u00eame pas. Une vraie performance. Le tout alimente un gros rock satur\u00e9 qui emprunte au post, au noise, au punk&#8230; Mais \u00e7a fonctionne, les compos passent bien sur sc\u00e8ne, et s&rsquo;av\u00e8rent assez vari\u00e9es pour maintenir le public (plut\u00f4t nombreux, m\u00eame si la Warzone n&rsquo;est pas blind\u00e9e) attentif et souriant pendant la demi-heure de set. On retiendra quand m\u00eame un remarquable \u00ab\u00a0War\u00a0\u00bb, classique en puissance issu du dernier album, qui devrait figurer dans toutes leurs set list pour les prochaines d\u00e9cennies tant il est efficace et accrocheur. D\u2019ailleurs tout le monde se l\u2019arrache. C\u2019est que les italiens ont fait sensation en l\u2019espace de deux albums, m\u00ealant doom et sonorit\u00e9 jazz, et apr\u00e8s les DesertFest et le Roadburn, les voici au Hellfest, \u00e9tape suppl\u00e9mentaire avant de se retrouver partout. En quatre titres (deux de chaque album aussi, d\u00e9cid\u00e9ment !), Marco, guitariste\/clav\u00e9riste\/t\u00eate pensante, et sa clique emportent une adh\u00e9sion sans faille sous la Valley. Le public est sous le charme (de Sara pour les uns, de la musique pour la plupart des autres) et en redemande. Ainsi remplum\u00e9, le g\u00e9nial guitariste et insaisissable vocaliste ouvre le set avec \u00ab Quantum Mystic \u00bb et avale d\u2019un coup d\u2019un seul toute l\u2019audience. \u00ab Unmask The Spectre \u00bb suit, comme un fil rouge dans l\u2019\u00e9motion, et tandis que le son \u2013 \u00e9norme et cristallin \u2013 enveloppe les spectateurs, Yob encha\u00eene sur la violente \u00ab The Screen \u00bb, et son riff rappelant Morbid Angel, jou\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019infini. La passion redouble alors que les yeux rougis, un T-shirt Funkadelic sur les \u00e9paules, Neil Fallon fait son apparition. On aurait pu craindre que le groupe soit un peu l\u00e9ger encore pour affronter un tel cr\u00e9neau sur la main stage, mais c\u2019\u00e9tait sans compter sur les bollocks des Ricains qui d\u00e9roulent impeccablement \u201cGhoul Wrangler\u201d puis \u201cH.B is in Control\u201d, ne reprenant leur souffle que pour annoncer \u201cThe Mob Goes Wild\u201d. Le public reprend en choeur les paroles de \u201cVision Quest\u201d. A ce moment du concert, nous avons pu comptabiliser 60 slammers \u00e0 la minutes (10 selon les autorit\u00e9s). \u00c7a pogote dans tous les sens, les pichets de bi\u00e8re volent. Fallon, grandiose de charisme, entra\u00eene le public, JP Gaster frappe ses futs plus fort que le soleil nos cr\u00e2nes. \u201cNoble Savage\u201d voil\u00e0 ce qu\u2019est Clutch et il le fait savoir du haut de son promontoire pour nous jeter ensuite \u201cThe Face\u201d et \u201cWillie Nelson\u201d aux oreilles. Oblig\u00e9s de quitter la cohue, nous prenons du recul. La foule est compacte jusqu\u2019aux consoles et tout le monde chante \u201cA Quick Death in Texas\u00a0\u00bb. Les organisateurs ne s\u2019y sont pas tromp\u00e9s en programmant Clutch \u00e0 cet endroit. \u201cElectric Worry\u201d d\u00e9boule, efficace comme un coup de pelle. Les monstres ne se couchent avant que ne soient offerts en p\u00e2ture \u00e0 la fosse \u201cX-Ray Vision\u201d et \u201cFirebirds\u201d. Mais soudain tout s\u2019arr\u00eate net, 5 minutes avant la fin pr\u00e9vue du set. Les festivaliers se regardent un peu \u00e9berlu\u00e9s. Que s\u2019est-il pass\u00e9 ? Tout le monde en voulait encore et soyons francs, 5 minutes suppl\u00e9mentaires n\u2019auraient pas suffi \u00e0 contenter l\u2019hyst\u00e9rie collective. Allez Hellfest envoie-nous ces p\u2019tits gars-l\u00e0 au firmament lors d&rsquo;une prochaine programmation. Les norv\u00e9giens, rempla\u00e7ants de luxe sur la Valley (ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 appel\u00e9s pour remplacer Emma Ruth Rundle suite \u00e0 son annulation) jouent devant un public peu dense, mais pas ridicule n\u00e9anmoins. Et le moins que l\u2019on puisse dire c\u2019est qu\u2019ils semblent stress\u00e9s. Les morceaux sont tron\u00e7onn\u00e9s, que ce soit les extraits de <em>The Gospel<\/em> (un indispensable de toutes discoth\u00e8ques) ou du dernier et tr\u00e8s recommandable album. \u00ab Sinnerman \u00bb leur reprise de Nina Simone sera finalement le meilleur moment d\u2019un set malheureusement en demi teinte d\u2019un groupe pourtant habituellement excellent. Cet Acid King l\u00e0, celui du live, s\u2019\u00e9coute comme un Doom en fermant les yeux, \u00ab\u00a0Laser Headlights\u00a0\u00bb offre de se laisser porter mais le sujet est tout autre.\u00a0 Lorsque les futs de Bill Bowman d\u00e9versent leurs frappes on en jouit pleinement m\u00eame si les effets les plus denses ne durent que quelques instants.\u00a0La Valley est id\u00e9ale \u00e0 cette heure du jour. Elle honore le groupe de la pr\u00e9sence de nombreux festivaliers. Pour autant le lieu est encore respirable, on peut garder son espace pour planer ou s\u2019asseoir, mort de fatigue, et alors supporter l\u2019assaut des infra basses qui, telles une myriade de serpents ob\u00e8ses, parcourent le sol alors que le groupe fait vibrer \u00ab Free \u00bb. Les videos qui ornent l\u2019arri\u00e8re de la sc\u00e8ne parlent de paysages de montagne ou de fonds marins, s\u2019entrem\u00ealant avec des images d\u2019archives. Quel dommage que l\u2019heure offre encore trop de lumi\u00e8re du jour et ne permette pas de jouir totalement du montage. Une ambiance d\u2019herbe a nigaud envahit la sc\u00e8ne comme la pelouse et contraste avec les aigus de la voix de Lori dans les nappes de lourdeur des instruments qui jouent tr\u00e8s l&rsquo;annonce du retrait de The Obsessed) d&rsquo;un concert exceptionnel de Mars Red Sky pour pr\u00e9parer la sortie de son nouvel album. Le concert est planifi\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;heure de l&rsquo;ap\u00e9ritif (et accessoirement de Phil Anselmo&#8230; pas grave !) sur la petite Hell Stage, la sc\u00e8ne qui tr\u00f4ne au milieu du Hell Square, la zone d&rsquo;entr\u00e9e \/ accueil du festival, qui h\u00e9berge quelques groupes atypiques ou \u00e9v\u00e9nements funs dans le week end. Le mot est bien pass\u00e9 en tout cas puisqu&rsquo;un public plut\u00f4t bien fourni se masse d\u00e9j\u00e0 alors que les trois musiciens ne sont pas encore sur sc\u00e8ne \u00e0 l&rsquo;heure du d\u00e9but annonc\u00e9. Tr\u00e8s vite on comprend que le set se d\u00e9roule dans une ambiance cool et sans stress, illustr\u00e9 par le d\u00e9luge de vannes parfois approximatives d\u00e9bit\u00e9es par Jimmy durant le concert&#8230; Sourires, bonne humeur et beaux d\u00e9cibels toutefois, puisque le groupe propose presque une heure d&rsquo;un set solide et efficace, comme ils nous y ont toujours habitu\u00e9. Comme pr\u00e9vu le trio propose quelques incursions dans son prochain disque (dont le titre \u00ab\u00a0Collector\u00a0\u00bb d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9coutable sur diverses plateformes) mais aussi certains de ses classiques \u00e0 l&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 jamais mise \u00e0 d\u00e9faut (\u00ab\u00a0Hovering Satellites\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Strong Reflection\u00a0\u00bb&#8230;). Tonton Phil H Anselmo &amp; The Illegals ont fait un set hommage \u00e0 Pantera, mettant le feu \u00e0 la fosse avec entre autre \u00ab Yesterday Don&rsquo;t Mean Shit \u00bb et surtout les tr\u00e8s attendus \u00ab Fucking Hostile \u00bb, \u00ab Walk \u00bb ou \u00ab Hellbound \u00bb. Tout le monde \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s heureux de retrouver Tonton Philou, il a re\u00e7u plein de cadeaux faits des mains potel\u00e9es des festivaliers et je crois bien qu\u2019il est rentr\u00e9 chez Pas la moinde trace de stoner voire de rock tout court dans le riche patrimoine des jeunes dieux helv\u00e9tiques (qui sont des personnages tr\u00e8s rock\u2019n\u2019roll). Accorder une heure pleine \u00e0 ce monument de la musique contemporaine, n\u2019est pas un luxe et leur pr\u00e9sence pas discut\u00e9e, mais franchement cl\u00f4turer le festival sous la Valley en avance (l\u2019horaire ayant \u00e9t\u00e9 revu suite \u00e0 la d\u00e9fection de The Obsessed) avec un set electro et psych\u00e9 c\u2019\u00e9tait pas vouloir rameuter la foule. C\u2019est donc exactement ce qui s\u2019est pass\u00e9 : le trio suisse a d\u00e9roul\u00e9 son set hyper soign\u00e9 devant un public peu nombreux. C\u2019est con, mais encens\u00e9 par ses pairs ainsi que par la critique, les Gods n\u2019ont jamais eu un succ\u00e8s populaire \u00e0 la hauteur de leur talent (\u00e0 part dans leur pays natal o\u00f9 ils f\u00e9d\u00e8rent plusieurs g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de fans notamment en raison d\u2019une long\u00e9vit\u00e9 impressionnante&#8230; putain plus de trente ans !). L\u2019occasion de balancer les furieux titres des d\u00e9buts \u00e9tait belle pour ces vieux punks, mais que nenni : c\u2019est un majestueux show electro brillamment mis en sc\u00e8ne qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 avec une forte pr\u00e9sence du nouvel album tr\u00e8s apais\u00e9. \u201cEnvoy\u00e9\u201d aura rabiboch\u00e9 les groupies historiques de Franz et de sa bande qui ont mis un terme \u00e0 3 journ\u00e9es tr\u00e8s riches musicalement dans une Valley qui s\u2019ouvre \u00e0 d\u2019autres genres musicaux et dans un festival qui voit notre genre se d\u00e9ployer sur Avec une sc\u00e9nographie incroyable, toute de flamme et d\u2019acier, les quatre bouchers enchainent leurs meilleurs titres sans pinailler, sans discuter, ni m\u00eame sourire et mettent \u00e0 genoux les 70 000 personnes, laiss\u00e9s sans d\u00e9fense, tremblants de bonheur, comme ross\u00e9s par la brute du lyc\u00e9e. On s&rsquo;attendait \u00e0 une affiche contrast\u00e9e et parfois iconoclaste, m\u00ealant grosses bombes, valeurs s\u00fbres, et incertitudes&#8230; Au final, on a retrouv\u00e9 en haut de notre classement la plupart de ceux qu&rsquo;on imaginait, et on pourra se targuer d&rsquo;avoir assist\u00e9 \u00e0 quelques excellents concerts qui sortaient un peu du prisme de Desert-Rock. C&rsquo;est aussi l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e o\u00f9 on aura vu le plus de concerts, avec des groupes \u00ab\u00a0amis\u00a0\u00bb qui nous ont amen\u00e9s \u00e0 sortir de la Valley plusieurs fois (h\u00e9r\u00e9sie).
