Ce coup-ci Small Stone r\u00e9cup\u00e8re un transfuge d’Underdogma. Throttlerod, groupe de Caroline du Sud \u00e9volue dans un registre boogie, mais \u00e0 tendance nettement plus heavy metal que Five Horse Johnson. Depuis son premier album, le groupe semble s’\u00eatre apais\u00e9. L’agressivit\u00e9 qu’il puisait du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de groupes tels que Clutch ou AC\/DC s’est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement att\u00e9nu\u00e9e, laissant la place \u00e0 davantage de m\u00e9lodies vocales lorgnant notamment du c\u00f4t\u00e9 des Smashing Pumpkins. Curieusement alors que la majorit\u00e9 des chanteurs sont fr\u00e9quemment plus efficaces \u00e0 hurler qu’\u00e0 produire des lignes m\u00e9lodiques, on assiste ici \u00e0 l’effet inverse. Les refrains souvent imparables, rendent fades les autres d\u00e9veloppements internes aux morceaux. Si en dehors des refrains on recense ici ou l\u00e0 quelques bonnes id\u00e9es, il faut reconna\u00eetre que l’imagination fait quelque peu d\u00e9faut \u00e0 Throttlerod qui souvent reproduit \u00e0 l’infini des plans confondant de na\u00efvet\u00e9. Ce groupe est l’arch\u00e9type du groupe besogneux. Toujours \u00e0 rajouter un plan pour \u00e9viter qu’il ne nous \u00e9chappe, on ne sait jamais. Toujours \u00e0 bourrer ses disques de peur qu’on ne soit frapp\u00e9 de manque. Je parierai que ces gars s’\u00e9vertuent \u00e0 donner des concerts de pr\u00e8s de deux heures. Au secours ! On peut \u00eatre l\u00e9ger tout en jouant lourd. Le groupe gagnera en coh\u00e9rence \u00e0 la condition d’\u00e9purer la structure de ses compositions. Rognage drastique.
