On se doutait d\u00e9j\u00e0 que pour enregistrer et mixer cet album en neuf jours, ils n&rsquo;avaient pas du carburer au lait-fraise, surtout en pr\u00e9sence des freaks notoires qui tra\u00eenaient dans le studio, mais cette fois-ci, ils annoncent la couleur d&rsquo;entr\u00e9e de jeu. Et tandis que sur \u00ab Cowboy \u00bb, la pr\u00e9sence de Dave Catching, Brant Bjork, Jessie Hugues ou Chris Goss restait discr\u00e8te, \u00ab The Codeine Sessions \u00bb nous propose des collaborations plus serr\u00e9es, les invit\u00e9s prenant tour \u00e0 tour part \u00e0 la composition et assurant le chant, \u00e0 l&rsquo;exception du premier titre 100% Hulk.<br \/>\nC\u00e0 s&rsquo;ouvre donc sur \u00ab Keep Talking \u00bb, une petite bombe comme on les aime, du rock&rsquo;n&rsquo;roll sans fioritures, direct et rac\u00e9 avec un refrain rehauss\u00e9 de c\u0153urs g\u00e9niaux tellement ils sont \u00e9vidents. Le genre de morceau taill\u00e9 pour la sc\u00e8ne o\u00f9 Hulk excelle. Sur \u00ab Gimme Some Skin \u00bb, Jesse Hugues fait \u00e9talage de ses gimmicks vocaux habituels pendant que derri\u00e8re, les trois autres balisent en terrain connus, ce qui n&rsquo;est pas vraiment le cas de \u00ab Seducer \u00bb (d\u00e9j\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent sur l&rsquo;album) sur lequel on reconna\u00eet directement la patte de Brant Bjork, toujours prompt \u00e0 l\u00e2cher un petit riff plus funky et \u00e0 apporter sa touche de coolitude. La surprise vient de \u00ab Electricitat \u00bb franchement orient\u00e9 Rockabilly sur lequel Dave Catching s&rsquo;amuse \u00e0 imiter Lux Interior avant de pr\u00eater main forte \u00e0 Chris Goss sur \u00ab Scary Song \u00bb, un morceau psych\u00e9 quasi-instrumental plein des nappes de guitares vaporeuses qui sentent bon la fin de soir\u00e9e bien charg\u00e9e.<br \/>\nEn bonus, deux vid\u00e9os r\u00e9alis\u00e9es par Marco Laguna qui en mati\u00e8re de rock&rsquo;n&rsquo;roll d\u00e9jant\u00e9 n&rsquo;a de le\u00e7ons \u00e0 recevoir de personne.
