Cette chronique sera courte : si Foobar est un groupe du roster de Daredevil records (label germanique qui a beaucoup fait pour le stoner europ\u00e9en) et que ses influences sont \u00e0 chercher du c\u00f4t\u00e9 du gros hard qui t\u00e2che tendance 70’s, il ne s’agit pas vraiment d’une sortie stoner pur jus, loin s’en faut.<\/p>\n

En revanche, si vous \u00eates fan de metal bien gaul\u00e9, gentiment thrash, tendance Anthrax, charg\u00e9s de leads bien barr\u00e9s et de refrains propices aux shoutouts et autres headbangings, Foobar The Band (quel nom !) est pour vous. Je parlais de Anthrax, ce n’est pas anodin : si vous aimez les metalleux New Yorkais, vous aimerez in\u00e9vitablement Foobar. A un point m\u00eame o\u00f9 le plagiat n’est pas tr\u00e8s loin (les refrains de \u00ab\u00a0In your eyes\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0Go search\u00a0\u00bb) ! Appelons \u00e7a un hommage.<\/p>\n

Avalanches soniques, d\u00e9luges de grattes, saturation et fuzz mesur\u00e9s (pr\u00e9sents mais pas omnipr\u00e9sents) vont ici de pair avec un sens de la compo absolument remarquable. Franchement, cet album est une bombe, balanc\u00e9e par une poign\u00e9e d’hymnes metal de la plus haute vol\u00e9e. La production est l\u00e0 aussi \u00e0 la hauteur (comme quoi, m\u00eame le plus modeste groupe su\u00e9dois peut se payer une prod de fou furieux), assurant coh\u00e9rence et homog\u00e9n\u00e9it\u00e9 (le son de gratte, la v\u00e9ritable identit\u00e9 du groupe), tout en proposant divers \u00ab\u00a0artifices\u00a0\u00bb bien sentis pour servir de mani\u00e8re originale les chansons lorsque n\u00e9cessaire (le synth\u00e9 de \u00ab\u00a0Bootycall\u00a0\u00bb, pas si \u00e9loign\u00e9 de Andrew WK !).<\/p>\n

Bref, une galette imparable pour tout metalleux un peu frapp\u00e9, avec un fort lien vers les groupes les plus \u00ab\u00a0heavy\u00a0\u00bb du hard stoner scandinave, mais peu de rattachement direct au stoner que nous ch\u00e9rissons.
