Apr\u00e8s un premier album \u00e9ponyme absolument g\u00e9nial paru l’ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, Dead Meadow nous revient avec son second opus. La question qui se pose est simple. Parviendra-t-il \u00e0 se hisser au niveau du premier album ? A l’image de la longue et superbe intro qui ouvre le disque, Dead Meadow nous plonge d’embl\u00e9e dans un univers plus apais\u00e9. On se retrouve immerg\u00e9 dans une combinaison remarquable de rock gras et de rock psych\u00e9d\u00e9lique. Puisant dans Kyuss, Led Zeppelin, Thirteenth Floor Elevator et Pink Floyd, le groupe n’en garde pas moins une personnalit\u00e9 affirm\u00e9e, tr\u00e8s originale. Les tempi sont souvent assez lents, voire doom, comme sur ‘One and old’, de toute beaut\u00e9. Le son est quant \u00e0 lui r\u00e9ellement fascinant puisque tr\u00e8s proche de celui de la fin des sixties. Ceux qui ne jurent que par les superproductions surfaites seront probablement d\u00e9\u00e7us. Ceux qui appr\u00e9cient les disques qui sonnent vrai, jubileront. Voil\u00e0 un disque profond\u00e9ment humain ou rien n’est dissimul\u00e9. Un ouvrage d’artisans en orf\u00e8vrerie, d’o\u00f9 se d\u00e9gage une douce chaleur sur fond de m\u00e9lancolie, transcend\u00e9e par l’utilisation intempestive d’une wha-wha et d’une distorsion hallucinante.
