Hormis le fait que la paire rythmique a fait partie du trop t\u00f4t disparu Lamont (une belle bande de rednecks laboureurs de gratte, et accessoirement de tympans), on sait peu de choses de cette triplette, et ce premier album marque donc leur premi\u00e8re sortie \u00ab\u00a0au grand jour\u00a0\u00bb sur la sc\u00e8ne stoner internationale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Car oui, Hackman fait du stoner comme on l&rsquo;aime. Et finalement, c&rsquo;est assez rare pour \u00eatre signal\u00e9 avec panache. Hackman balance des riffs par caisses enti\u00e8res, et chacun de ses riffs est \u00e0 lui seul aussi percutant que les 3 derniers albums de Fu Manchu (OK, 2 et demi, le dernier est plut\u00f4t bon). Ce d\u00e9luge guitaristique repose fi\u00e8rement sur une chape de plomb rythmique dont le groove (voir la basse sur \u00ab\u00a0You can&rsquo;t ever get what you want\u00a0\u00bb) le dispute \u00e0 la densit\u00e9. Le spectre de Karma To Burn tourne avec bienveillance au dessus de la platine CD au fur et \u00e0 mesure que les plages d\u00e9filent : la comparaison ne s&rsquo;arr\u00eate pas \u00e0 ce sens du riff ultime et de la rythmique groovy, mais bien au fait que 95% de ce disque est instrumental ! On pensera aussi \u00e0 Kyuss (en terme de filiation plut\u00f4t que de plagiat) ou encore \u00e0 Operator Generator et Milligram (pour la densit\u00e9 pachydermique de la musique).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ce qui laisse 5% de \u00ab\u00a0chant\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb. On \u00e9met la premi\u00e8re r\u00e9serve sur la musique de Hackman vers la fin de la seconde plage, lorsque Darryl, le gratteux, nous laisse subtilement percevoir la tendresse de son chant. Borborygme guttural au possible, sur fond de cordes vocales \u00e9lim\u00e9es par des litrons de bi\u00e8re ti\u00e8de, les parties chant\u00e9es de l&rsquo;album n&rsquo;apportent pas grand-chose \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9difice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Pass\u00e9s ces instants un peu \u00ab\u00a0rugueux\u00a0\u00bb, on se laisse \u00e0 nouveau prendre par la musique du groupe, qui \u00e9volue entre morceaux hautement m\u00e9lodiques et groovesques, et br\u00fblots de stoner-metal bien charpent\u00e9s : autant les musiciens peuvent redoubler de feeling (voir la ligne de basse de \u00ab\u00a0Ababac\u00a0\u00bb, ou le planant \u00ab\u00a0Fuck you I played Altamont\u00a0\u00bb), autant lorsqu&rsquo;ils se mettent \u00e0 envoyer du bois, c&rsquo;est par st\u00e8res entiers dans la face (le gras du bide \u00ab\u00a0The anthem\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Chin music\u00a0\u00bb).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Une premi\u00e8re galette brillante, modeste orgasme musical, et en tout cas un groupe d&rsquo;avenir (esp\u00e9rons-le, on en veut encore, des albums de cette trempe !).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gros flou sur ce groupe de ma part, mais les premi\u00e8res notes m&rsquo;ont fait me jeter sur leur bio.
