Avec un nom comme Mothertrucker, on s’attend \u00e0 ce que \u00e7a d\u00e9pote, qu’un trio de baroudeurs poussi\u00e9reux, la clope au bec, humant bon la sueur et la binouse ti\u00e9dasse, d\u00e9barque dans le studio, qu’un gratteux remonte son froc us\u00e9, renifle, branche son jack, tourne le potard de volume \u00e0 fond, et commence \u00e0 \u00e9ructer derri\u00e8re son micro en faisant des moulinets avec sa gratte ! Et ben non… Mothertrucker est plus dans une mouvance instrumentale froide, type \u00ab\u00a0post stoner\u00a0\u00bb, tendance Neurosis sans la voix.<\/p>\n

Sur cette base, les anglais ne d\u00e9\u00e7oivent pas : ce qu’ils font, ils le font bien. A 3 seulement, ils balancent un mur sonique compact et raide, sailli de riffs secs comme des coups de trique. Ici ou l\u00e0, des leads de guitare peuvent nous rappeler les passages les plus \u00ab\u00a0psych\u00e9d\u00e9liques\u00a0\u00bb de Kyuss, par exemple. Un peu plus loin, les lointains et lancinants licks de guitare l\u00e9g\u00e8rement dissonants font in\u00e9vitablement penser \u00e0 Yawning Man. Vous l’aurez compris, quelques relents purement stoneriens bassement organiques satisferont les plus rudes d’oreilles d’entre vous.<\/p>\n

En revanche, si vous aimez votre stoner \u00ab\u00a0pied au plancher\u00a0\u00bb, in your face, Mothertrucker n’est pas fait pour vous : compos alambiqu\u00e9es fleurtant all\u00e8gremant autour de la dizaine de minutes chaque, le trio grand-breton est plus dans un trip ambiant-planant-labourant… Et ils pratiquent l’exercice remarquablement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
