Depuis l’annonce du d\u00e9part du charismatique Spice des Spiritual Beggars, on pouvait craindre le pire, tant sa voix rocailleuse et chaleureuse participait \u00e0 l’identit\u00e9 du combo su\u00e9dois. Puis les Beggars ont annonc\u00e9 que Janne, le chanteur de Grand Magus, prendrait sa place, et on restait dans l’expectative. Enfin, on peut d\u00e9sormais d\u00e9couvrir sur pi\u00e8ce ce que vaut ce nouveau vocaliste et on est rassur\u00e9s ! Et pas qu’un peu : le chanteur du Grand Mage a une voix puissante et assur\u00e9e, aux relents bluesy parfois, au moins aussi chaleureuse que celle de Spice, et elle repr\u00e9sente sans nul doute l’un des principaux attraits de la musique de cet autre groupe scandinave. Mais ce n’est pas le seul int\u00e9r\u00eat de cet album, probablement l’une des galettes les plus heavy qui nous ait \u00e9t\u00e9 propos\u00e9e depuis longtemps : un stoner rock ‘\u00e0 l’europ\u00e9enne’, plut\u00f4t ax\u00e9 sur un h\u00e9ritage heavy presque doomesque, faisant la part belle aux rythmiques charpent\u00e9es et \u00e0 la basse ronflante sur lesquelles viennent couler des soli limpides et inspir\u00e9s (ce bougre de Janne assure aussi toutes les grattes de l’album, et il est loin d’\u00eatre manchot). Ce power trio stonerien de barbus cr\u00e9e donc une agr\u00e9able surprise, se positionnant en m\u00e9lange parfait de Gov’t Mule (trio aux influences bluesy), Black Sab’ (ce son de basse et ces leads ne trompent pas !) et m\u00eame des Spiritual Beggars, vu qu’ils \u00e9voluent dans des genres assez proches.
