Trio \u00e9trange natif de l&rsquo;industrielle et aust\u00e8re Detroit, ces gars-l\u00e0 avaient tout pour accoucher d&rsquo;un br\u00fblot graisseux, un uppercut froid et r\u00e8che, \u00e0 l&rsquo;image de la vie dans cette ville d\u00e9sol\u00e9e, o\u00f9 la musique est trop souvent uniquement un exutoire. Et bien non. La musique de The Muggs est l\u00e9g\u00e8re, dat\u00e9e (ou plut\u00f4t \u00ab\u00a0hors du temps\u00a0\u00bb), subtile&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Trio de formation presque classique (guitare, batterie&#8230; et orgue\/basse Fender Rhodes !! Typique des 70&rsquo;s !), les Muggs ont manifestement un peu bloqu\u00e9 sur les ann\u00e9es 70 pour abreuver leur son et leurs compos : le son de gratte, impeccable, est juste satur\u00e9 comme il faut, le chant est clair et l\u00e9g\u00e8rement rocailleux. La basse tout comme la batterie accompagnent le tout tr\u00e8s discr\u00e8tement, comme au bon vieux temps, \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque o\u00f9 il \u00e9tait commun que la paire rythmique assure modestement le taf dans le fond de la sc\u00e8ne, hors des spotlights, mais sans effort et avec classe&#8230; De temps en temps, un solo de gratte venu de nulle part vient emmener l&rsquo;ensemble, sans trop en faire. A noter une prod particuli\u00e8rement croustillante, avec un son impeccable, un peu de slide ici ou l\u00e0, du piano&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Les compos sont \u00e0 la hauteur de ces premi\u00e8res louanges : le sympathique \u00ab\u00a0Slow curve\u00a0\u00bb entame de mani\u00e8re joviale les hostilit\u00e9s, la bave aux l\u00e8vres, et ouvre la voie \u00e0 des titres plus mid-tempo (\u00ab\u00a0All around you\u00a0\u00bb) voire des balades \u00e9tonnamment pas trop chiantes (\u00ab\u00a0Curbside constellation blues\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Never know why\u00a0\u00bb), m\u00eame si le soufre n&rsquo;est jamais tr\u00e8s loin avec des titres bien plus enlev\u00e9s (\u00ab\u00a0Get it on\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Down below\u00a0\u00bb).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ce disque est \u00e0 recommander aux fans des vieux Aerosmith (pas ceux de maintenant, ceux qui avaient 30 ans de moins !), et des autres anciens combo hard rock de la grande \u00e9poque.
