Against the Grain, c’est quatre mecs de Detroit qui ne manquent pas de qualificatifs pour d\u00e9finir leur musique\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0balls-to-the-wall rock, incorporating all things heavy they practically defy categorization, seamlessly blurring the lines of punk, rock, doom and thrash \u00bb<\/em> . \u00c7a semble un peu pr\u00e9tentieux mais presque tout y est. On oubliera juste le terme \u00ab\u00a0Doom\u00a0\u00bb qui semble plus \u00eatre un argument commercial qu’autre chose. Toujours est-il que je me suis retrouv\u00e9 attach\u00e9 \u00e0 un rail durant une quarantaine de minutes le temps pour le train de l’artwork de l’album \u00ab\u00a0Cheated Death\u00a0\u00bb de me passer dessus en attendant sa sortie le 09 f\u00e9vrier.<\/p>\n

L’ouverture de l’album, sonne comme un Mothoread, rapide et percutant. Une rage mi-thrash, mi-punk anime cette joyeuse bande de fanas de m\u00e9canique, en particulier sur \u00ab\u00a0Smoke\u00a0\u00bb. M\u00eame si la loco se d\u00e9glingue un peu sur la balade \u00ab\u00a0Devil & Angel\u00a0\u00bb , on notera quelques savoureuses boucles m\u00e9lodiques. Un coup de gn\u00f4le dans le r\u00e9servoir et les morceaux repartent. \u00ab\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0\u00bb balance un rock’n’roll \u00e0 la nitroglyc\u00e9rine qui ne fait que s’amplifier sur \u00ab\u00a0Enough Not Enough\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0Jaded And Faded\u00a0\u00bb . Bien que cet album ait un air de d\u00e9j\u00e0 entendu, j’ai pris pas mal de plaisir \u00e0 l’\u00e9coute de la seconde partie de l’album avec en particulier ses lignes de basse proprettes bien rondes. Dommage que les gars plient les gaules sans pr\u00e9venir apr\u00e8s \u00ab\u00a0Into the Light\u00a0\u00bb, j’en aurais bien repris un peu.<\/p>\n

Au final, ce \u00abCheated Death\u00a0\u00bb n’est pas un mauvais album qui trouvera certainement toute sa place sur sc\u00e8ne avec un peu plus de puissance sonore.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
