Le quartette de Cambridge \u00e9volue depuis 2010 dans les sph\u00e8res du Heavy Psych\u00e9d\u00e9lique \u00e0 tendance Doom avec pour fil conducteur des sonorit\u00e9s 70\u2019s tremp\u00e9es dans un malaise constant et ils sortent leur cinqui\u00e8me galette. (Ah ben merde, je les ai pr\u00e9sent\u00e9). Voil\u00e0 donc trois ans que nous \u00e9tions sans nouvelle du groupe, la galette intitul\u00e9e <em>Wasteland<\/em> \u00e9tait d&rsquo;autant plus attendue des amateurs et rien que le titre offre quelques promesses au connaisseur des sons tortur\u00e9s de Tonton Acide.<\/p>\n<p>Le groupe se d\u00e9marque par sa constance \u00e0 emmener l\u2019auditeur vers un univers qui lui est propre. Droit dans ses bottes Uncle Acid r\u00e9alise un job sans surprise mais d\u00e9lectable o\u00f9 le m\u00e9lodique sert la vision d\u2019une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 d\u00e9gueulasse. <em>Wasteland<\/em> convoque \u00e0 chaque morceau le le malaise et l&rsquo;apaisement. La puissance m\u00e9lodique d\u00e9gag\u00e9e \u00e0 chaque titre fait de l\u2019album une raret\u00e9 au sein des intentions du milieu Doom actuel. Uncle Acid ne cherche pas \u00e0 \u00eatre toujours plus lourd, au contraire, il tire vers le haut et l\u2019a\u00e9rien et ne conserve que la moelle d\u00e9stabilisatrice du genre. C\u2019est d\u2019ailleurs un fait revendiqu\u00e9 par Kevin Starrs, <em>Wasteland<\/em> est un album de Heavy qui laisse libre court \u00e0 une inspiration m\u00e9lodique et saisissante.<\/p>\n<p>On l\u2019a dit mille fois, Uncle Acid c\u2019est avant tout une appropriation des codes de la musique des ann\u00e9es 70, \u00ab\u00a0Shockwave city\u00a0\u00bb fait la part belle \u00e0 la r\u00e9putation du groupe en sortant un son Crunchy et consistant comme un Black Sab\u2019 des familles ou \u00ab\u00a0Blood Runner\u00a0\u00bb, id\u00e9alement Heavy entre un hymne 80\u2019s sur un son de Les Paul de chez Led Zep\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Afin d&rsquo;imaginer l&rsquo;app\u00e9tit de Kevin Starrs pour le genre horrifique, il suffit de se pencher sur \u00ab\u00a0No Return\u00a0\u00bb qui fait office de cirque hant\u00e9, avec une composition tr\u00e8s visuelle qui serait la mise en sc\u00e8ne d\u2019un Comics de Eric Powell par Jacques Tourneur. La recette de Uncle Acid tient en deux ingr\u00e9dients principaux, du classique Heavy et un univers entre beaut\u00e9 et fantastique. Le titre \u00e9ponyme \u00ab\u00a0Wasteland\u00a0\u00bb en dit d&rsquo;ailleurs long sur le sujet, petit \u00e0 petit la composition se d\u00e9grade, l\u2019auditeur assiste \u00e0 une d\u00e9chirure dans le rideau et le monde se montre tel qu\u2019il est, d\u00e9grad\u00e9 et pourrissant, se tordant de douleur et de frustration.<\/p>\n<p>Le lancinant \u201cB\u00e9douin\u201d et son gimmick appuy\u00e9 ne laissent pas indemne, on cherche sans cesse \u00e0 revenir sur l\u2019\u00e9coute et le titre s\u2019impose avec des sons de trompette qui restent en boucle dans la m\u00e9moire de l\u2019auditeur. L\u2019\u00c9quilibre d\u00e9licat entre malaise et bien \u00eatre fait de l&rsquo;album un oxymore musical. \u00ab\u00a0Exodus\u00a0\u00bb cl\u00f4ture en oraison fun\u00e8bre la galette, la grosse caisse devient un battement de c\u0153ur accompagn\u00e9 d\u2019orgues pour une mont\u00e9e en puissance sur un rythme martial de caisse claire qui s\u2019\u00e9loigne comme le passage d\u2019un cort\u00e8ge mortuaire.<\/p>\n<p>Les 46 minutes de <em>Wasteland<\/em> ne seront certes pas un monument d\u2019originalit\u00e9 au sein de leur discographie cependant Uncle Acid &amp; The Deadbeats font ce qu\u2019il savent faire et le font bien. Tout au long de l&rsquo;\u00e9coute on saura appr\u00e9cier le m\u00e9lange subtil d\u2019influence et l\u2019alchimie qui s\u2019op\u00e8re entre Rock Psych\u00e9, Pop, Folk et Blues. On remarquera enfin que le groupe s\u2019oriente vers une musique plus m\u00e9lancolique et touche juste avec son regard sur un monde en \u00e9tat d\u2019urgence et nous laisse avec son spleen une fois la derni\u00e8re note \u00e9gren\u00e9e.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Est-il encore la peine de pr\u00e9senter le groupe Uncle Acid &amp; the Deadbeats?
