Mais le chypriote, v\u00e9ritable globe trotter, notamment pour son activit\u00e9 de tatoueur, est aussi un hyper actif musical, ce dernier \u00e9tant la t\u00eate pensante et chanteur du groupe de black\/thrash Satan\u2019s Wrath et bassiste au sein de Mirror, formation heavy\/hard 70\u2019s dont le troisi\u00e8me album sort en avril chez Cruz Del Sur Records. Friends of Hell, l\u2019autre mamelle de son adoration pour les musiques occultes, r\u00e9pond \u00e0 une promesse que Danazoglu avait faite au guitariste espagnol Jondix, qu\u2019il a c\u00f4toy\u00e9 au sein de Great Coven et Eight Hands For Kali au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 2000 : refaire de la musique ensemble et s\u2019entourer d\u2019amis eux aussi venus des enfers. Ces amis ayant des noms plus ronflants que la moyenne puisqu\u2019il s\u2019agit de Taneli Jarva (basse\/ex-Sentenced, ex-Impaled Nazarene) et Albert Witchfinder (voix\/ex-Reverend Bizarre), le groupe a vite distill\u00e9 un parfum de supergroupe avec l\u2019excitation et l\u2019angoisse qui vient avec.<\/p>\n<p>Friends of Hell n\u2019est pas un supergroupe. Jamais. Parce que si le CV des musiciens a de quoi all\u00e9cher le doomster en goguette, il s\u2019agit tout de m\u00eame de seconds couteaux &#8211; certes aiguis\u00e9s &#8211; du circuit, Albert Witchfinder mis \u00e0 part. Et c\u2019est bien leur amiti\u00e9, et leurs accointances musicales (en plus de leur passion pout le tatouage, le m\u00e9tier de Jarva et Danazoglu) qui les a r\u00e9unis. Cette pression enlev\u00e9e, il est possible d\u2019appr\u00e9cier le disque pour ce qu\u2019il est : 40 minutes de doom traditionnel, fort en riffs (\u00ab Shadow of the Impaler \u00bb, \u00ab Evil They Call Us \u00bb) et en refrains incantatoires (\u00ab Into my Coffin \u00bb, \u00ab Belial\u2019s Bell \u00bb, \u00ab Friends of Hell \u00bb), ayant de quoi remplir le coeur noir et glac\u00e9 des fans du genre, qui n\u2019ont pas &#8211; malgr\u00e9 ce que l\u2019on pourrait penser &#8211; 5 disques du genre par an \u00e0 se mettre sur la dent. Friends of Hell invoque Pentagram (Bobby Liebling a d\u2019ailleurs un temps \u00e9t\u00e9 envisag\u00e9 derri\u00e8re le micro), Trouble ou Cathedral, se r\u00e9f\u00e8re aussi \u00e9videment \u00e0 Witchfinder General (Friends of Hell \u00e9tant le nom du second album de ces pionniers du heavy doom anglais) et sonne comme un hommage \u00e0 toute cette sc\u00e8ne. La basse claque, sans fuzz ni artifice, les guitares dessinent des pentacles dans nos esprits et bien s\u00fbr la voix de Witchfiner colore tr\u00e8s nettement le disque d\u2019une bizarre r\u00e9v\u00e9rence. Rien de nouveau sous le soleil (noir) mais le disque contient parmi les meilleurs riffs du doom game actuel faisant ais\u00e9ment oublier quelques morceaux un poil plus faibles (\u00ab Orion\u2019s Beast \u00bb ou \u00ab Wallachia \u00bb mais c\u2019est pour chipoter).<\/p>\n<p>Ce premier album de Friends of Hell est une franche r\u00e9ussite, un bonbon pour les fans du genre, dont on esp\u00e8re une carri\u00e8re plus p\u00e9renne qu\u2019un simple happening de routier du doom. On a toujours en t\u00eate le coup With The Dead, qui apr\u00e8s un super album et quelques apparitions lives a d\u00e9\u00e7u, avec un second effort peu m\u00e9morable et une mise en sommeil depuis 2017. Pour Friends of Hell on veut du \u00ab\u00a0Doom over the World\u00a0\u00bb. Et vite!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Point vinyle:<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Rise Above aime ce format et sait que nous l\u2019aimons aussi. Le label propose donc sa classique version Die Hard (100 exemplaires, avec patch, insert collector et compagnie) ainsi que d\u2019autres couleurs (200 purple, black &amp; white splatter, 500 trans black et 400 solid purple pour les USA).
