Mother Of Pearl s\u2019est constitu\u00e9 l\u2019an pass\u00e9 \u00e0 Bordeaux autour de Guilain \u00e0 la batterie, Olivier \u00e0 la guitare, Rolando \u00e0 la basse ainsi que Fabrice au chant. La formation a \u00e9crit depuis une bonne dizaine de titres originaux et elle nous en livre cinq sur cette galette qui atteint presque la demi-heure.<br \/>\nMise en bo\u00eete en une journ\u00e9e \u00e0 grands renforts de bi\u00e8re et de fumig\u00e8ne, cette d\u00e9mo a \u00e9t\u00e9 prise live \u00e0 l\u2019exception des ch\u0153urs et, m\u00eame si l\u2019ampli du gratteux a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de faire des siennes la veille de la session, le rendu est de bonne facture au niveau technique. Je ne sais pas si c\u2019est l\u2019urgence \u2013 environ six heures d\u2019enregistrement studio -, la maturit\u00e9 des membres du groupe dont la moyenne d\u2019\u00e2ge tourne autour de trente-cinq piges ou le fait de devoir dompt\u00e9 un nouvel ampli guitare, mais l\u2019\u00e9nergie que d\u00e9gage ce premier effort est bien s\u00e9duisante dans un registre \u00e0 la fois fuzz et rock\u2019n\u2019roll tout en restant bien heavy.<br \/>\nOn d\u00e9bute les hostilit\u00e9s avec \u2018Bloodsuckers\u2019 qui groove dans un trend assez proche de Monster Magnet ou d\u2019Atomic Bitchwax ; \u00e7a balance bien et les parties rapides alternent avec des instants plus lents. Les refrains repris en ch\u0153ur et les soli de six-cordes tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sents sur ce premier titre nous en disent long sur ce que ces seniors ont pu \u00e9couter durant leur adolescence. La seconde plage intitul\u00e9e \u2018So tired\u2019 d\u00e9bute de mani\u00e8re lancinante avec une partie vocale presque grandiloquente qui lorgne vers le rock progressif jusqu\u2019\u00e0 que des murs de guitares appuy\u00e9s d\u2019une rythmique lourde ne viennent se joindre \u00e0 la partie. Plut\u00f4t lente, cette composition laisse \u00e0 nouveau le champ libre \u00e0 la gratte solo juste avant de se terminer et c\u2019est le titre qui me laisse le plus froid sur cette autoproduction que j\u2019ai \u00e9cout\u00e9 en boucle une bonne quinzaine de fois.<br \/>\nAvec \u2018Mud Cum fire &amp; Blood\u2019 on change un peu de d\u00e9cors. Cette plage qui exc\u00e8de les sept minutes d\u00e9bute sur un bon vieux riffs de basse bien distordue \u00e0 la Cliff Burton puis, apr\u00e8s deux trois accords qui envoient du bois, r\u00e9trograde pour aller d\u00e9fricher des horizons intimistes qui pourraient bien vite lasser si un \u00e9norme d\u00e9luge de d\u00e9cibels ne venait l\u2019interrompre r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement avec une \u00e9nergie bien communicative. Ce titre d\u00e9tonnant bascule dans un jam d\u2019enfer carr\u00e9ment excellent dans un style assez proche de Sparzanza ou On Trial. Passons \u00e0 mon pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 : \u2018Makin A Livin\u2019, cette compo \u00e9nergique bien burn\u00e9e tourne juste et bien ; le c\u00f4t\u00e9 Kyuss de ce titre est particuli\u00e8rement appr\u00e9ciable et s\u00e9duisant. La partie vocale plus \u00e9nergique et compress\u00e9e que sur le reste du disque adh\u00e8re admirablement \u00e0 la trame musicale juste heavy comme il faut. Avec \u2018Little Eagle\u2019 on a droit \u00e0 une intro et un riff de base \u00e0 quelques encablures de \u2018God Is In The Radio\u2019 de QOTSA avant que cette plage ne prenne une direction nettement plus furieuse pour se terminer de mani\u00e8re bien psych\u00e9d\u00e9lique. Les Doors ne sont pas tr\u00e8s loins de cette composition bien \u00e0 l\u2019esprit bien seventies.<br \/>\nAu final, ce premier jet ne d\u00e9pareillera pas le moins du monde dans la discoth\u00e8que des amateurs de Spoiler et de Black Nasa.
